Day 2 - Continued!

Tiffany and I went to PCR for the weekly open water swim.  About 15 people there.  Swam approximately 1200 meters....averaged approximately 2:35 per 150 meters.  No wet suit.  Water temp mid//high 70's.  Awesome swim.  Good breathing and smooth stroke...not the fastest times, but a good start.  Time for some food, shower, and family time.

Day 2

Well, I've been reminded of two things I grow to dislike as my workouts continue.....my alarm clock and Tony Horton.  Completed the Ab-Ripper X workout this morning and almost died.  Thank goodness I had my cats to keep my going.  Worked my way past a lot of great food to get to my lunch options (yogurt, protein bar, shake, and fruit cup).  Drank some breakfast and am starting the work day.  Big night of swimming planned at PCR tonight.

Run

Ran out past Bilby farm to the driveway before the round barn (just over 5 miles) in 44:40 (8:50 per mile)  Moderate hills and breezy.  Temp around 78 degrees.  Missy and Tiffany rode bikes with me and supplied me with water.  Great end to the day.  Tomorrow....SWIMMING at PCR!

Day 1 (June 28, 2011)

Wanted to begin a blog, not because I think others will want to read it, but to help hold myself accountable to my training schedule and to measure my potential progress.  My current goal is to compete in the August 20, 2011 Eagle Creek Sprint Triathon.  The race distances are a 500m swim, 10 mile bike, and 3 mile run.  This will be my sixth time to compete in this event.  It's a great venue and very competitive.

I've been doing some training, but nothing serious.  My goal for the race is to beat my personal best of 1:08.  I've set goals for each leg of the race and both transitions.

I'm going to use this blog to journal my daily workouts as I intensify my focus.  Hopefully, all the work will result in a new personal best.  More to come....
